Greetings. I’m assuming that since you are reading this bio, you probably have not visited our church. Let me be the first to say welcome! This website will give you a picture of what we are about, but the strength of the church resides in relationships; our relationship with our Risen Savior and our relationships with people inside the church and with the unchurched people of Grand Junction. I love River of Life Alliance Church—in fact, I’d come and be a part of this church’s ministry even if I wasn’t the pastor! My bride, Lyn, and I have been here since 2001.
Both Lyn and I came to know Jesus as Savior through the Navigator Ministry while I was flying combat rescue helicopters in the Air Force. I retired from the military in 1999 and after interning in the Cheyenne Wyoming Alliance Church for two years we moved to Grand Junction. We have seven wonderful children—four married; two girls in college; and our youngest son still in the home. We are proud grandparents of three grandchildren…we only wish they were closer!! We love the Grand Valley, we love the people on the Western Slope of Colorado and we love that everywhere we look, we see the mighty hand of the Creator. Come and visit us. Worship is the purpose for which God made us. We were made to bring glory to God and find our satisfaction in him! It goes far beyond the singing on Sunday morning. My goal in music ministry is to join in the work of the Holy Spirit in developing a passion within our body to sing to, rejoice in, submit to, revere, follow, and magnify Jesus Christ. My wife Jessica and I feel incredibly blessed to be part of River of Life and we are encouraged to see what God is doing. Please come and join with us to pursue God and rehearse for heaven with songs of praise! Psalm 106:1-2 ”Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Who can proclaim the mighty acts of the Lord or fully declare his praise?”

I am honored to have joined River of Life’s staff in May of 2011. Working with children is my passion and I’m thrilled to have a part in enriching your children’s walk with the Lord. I– and all the children’s ministry volunteers– am committed to inspire the kids of River of Life to know the Word and to understand what it is to have a lifestyle of worship. I have a B.A. in English Education from Mesa State College. I have served in ministry at a non-denominational church over the last 13 years in several roles such as Youth Leader, VBS Director, Kid’s Church teacher and on the worship team. I also had the privilege of being an intern at Teen Mania Ministry’s Honor Academy for two years before pursuing my college degree. I recently was the manager of the Kid’s Club at a local Gold’s Gym for a year and a half before having my beautiful baby girl. My husband Josh and I have been married since 2007 and have one daughter, Elynna Faith, born in October 2010.

My greatest passion in ministry is to lead people into the Gospel over and over and over again. At River of Life, my prayer is that the Holy Spirit would make known to families the reality of the Gospel and that I might be able to tag along for the ride. When it comes to ministry with youth and parents, Reggie Joiner says it best: “As leaders and parents, our primary calling is not to keep our children in the church, but to lead them to be the church.” I believe this begins and ends with the Gospel.
My wife Lacey and I were married in 2009 and moved to Grand Junction in 2011. We met at Crown College in Minnesota and before coming to River of Life we served at Christ Community Church in Omaha Nebraska in the college ministry. At Crown I studied History and Biblical and Theological studies.

Cheri has considered it a privilege to be an active part of River of Life since she started coming with her family in the spring of 2002. After 16 years in the counseling profession,Cheri felt called to serve in the community group ministry with the hope of helping to build healthy,Christ-centered relationships.She works part time to develop this vital ministry. As director of community groups, it is Cheri’s heart that at River of Life every effort is made within this body, to become passionate, devoted disciples.
Cheri has been married for over 20 years to her husband Dave. They live in Fruita with their daughters: Jaye & Joelle. Their son, RC attends Mesa State College.

My husband and I moved to Grand Junction in 1998, and have been attending River of Life since then. We love this church, and I am happy to be back on staff as the church administrator. Though I have a Bachelor’s Degree with a teaching certificate, my interests and strengths are in the areas of administration. I enjoy serving the Lord in the local body, and I also sit on the missions committee. I have had the pleasure of raising 4 daughters, and our youngest is starting college. I look forward to seeing what the Lord is doing through River of Life, both locally and around the world.

You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring.” This verse from Isaiah 58:11 is my life verse and I am blessed to say that God has been faithful to ALL His promises to me, especially this one! I praise Him for the opportunity to minister to and serve God’s family here at River of Life Alliance in the church office. My husband and I are “retired” and live in Mesa after 42+ years of full-time ministry with the Christian and Missionary Alliance. We have 1 son and 3 married daughters with 3 terrific sons-in-law and 8 fantastic and fun grandchildren.
